Rustic Revival Barnwood supplies Hoffman Weber Construction with reclaimed lumber salvaged from barns in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and the Dakotas. The wood is used in remodeling for mantels, posts, beams, doors, accent walls and flooring.
The lumber often comes with the backstory of the farm where it was salvaged, when the barn was built and how the structure had been used. Sometimes Rustic Revival even provides photographs of the farm to enrich the buyer’s preservation tale.
Rustic Revival owner Rhonda Engle says her 40 suppliers remove nails and rotted sections before delivering the wood. However, she recommends the lumber be treated with Boracare and sealed before it is used indoors to ensure it is safe and bug free.
Barnwood is not just reclaimed from old barns that are unsafe and falling down. Rhonda explained that some farmers have perfectly sound barns and outbuildings dismantled because they are too costly to insure.
Rustic Revival Barnwood’s new 6,000 sf retail warehouses is at 8601 73rd Ave. N, Suite 8 (facing northbound Boone Ave.) in Brooklyn Park, MN. In addition to the lumberyard, the space houses Rustic Revival Home and a Design Studio operated by Interior Design partner Jeanna Letzring.
The store features home furnishing and décor made from reclaimed barn wood. Jeanna also designs custom applications, such as barn doors and floors, for Hoffman Weber remodeling projects.
Rhonda and Jeanna participated in the Summer Home Products Show in Blaine hosted by Hoffman Weber Construction, the Kris Lindahl Team at ReMax Results and the K107.1 myTalk Home Show. After demonstrating how to build barn doors, the women talked about their passion for reclaiming barn wood and adding rich character to area homes and businesses.
