HWC Donates Roof Installation to Creative Acres Animal Sanctuary

by Hoffman Weber Construction, on November 11, 2010

While completing roofing projects in the Brighton, CO area during the last week of October, we came across Creative Acres, a no-kill, free roaming animal sanctuary.  Founded in 1989 and still managed today by Maxine Mager, Creative Acres is home to 400 animals of 100 different species, including Hoffman the goat, who not only shares a name with Hoffman Weber Construction but also our colors.

After seeing the severe wind and hail damage to their roof, we knew we had to help Hoffman and the other animals.  We replaced 20% of the roof and made repairs throughout by hand sealing loose shingles and installing new flashing over a mechanical room.  The GAF Elk shingles and modified bit roofing were generously donated by Roof Depot of Denver.

Creative Acres provides a variety of animals, from emus and lizards to dogs and cats, a good quality life.  Some of these creatures have amazing survival stories, including overcoming cancer, abuse, and abandonment.  Maxine supports these animals on a very limited budget, providing food, shelter, and medical care.  She also offers educational programs to the community.  Various groups, including at-risk youth, those with special needs, and those with physical challenges, visit the sanctuary and animals.
